Timescapes: IR clouds

Today I went looking for contrails with the slit scan camera and a filter that passes only infrared. The air traffic controllers didn’t provide the contrails, but I did get this image, which reminds me of astrophotographic images of nebulae. It looks like it could be a cloud close-up, but the real scale is much larger: top to bottom, it’s the span of a 65mm lens over a 3.5 inch vertical (similar to a 21mm lens on a 35mm camera), and side to side it’s half an hour.
