In the previous post, I looked at the amplitude of the read noise in the X2DII, reporting the results in engineering dynamic range (EDR). In this post, I’ll look at the spectra of the read noise.
Three of the raw channels look great at base ISO. There is quite a bit of low-pass filtering evident in the fourth (blue) channel.
At the lowest of the high conversion gain ISO settings:
And at the very highest ISO setting:
The filtering seems to be independent of ISO setting. The filtereing of the fourth channel appeared with the X2D Mark I, but this is much stronger.

It’s interesting how the X2D II’s blue channel filtering has become much stronger compared to the Mark I. Do you think this could be a deliberate design choice to minimize noise at higher ISOs?

I doubt it, since the effect occurs at all ISO settings.
