I haven’t heard from X-Rite support, but I poked around and figured something out. I am able to create profiles when I read in one of the sample saved workflows that are part of the default installation. That tells me that the profile making part of the program is not completely broken. I suspect that I made some kind of mistake when I read the test target. The measurement section of the program does a sanity check on each trip as you’re reading it, and if the readings are completely out of whack it makes you read the strip over. I’m suspecting that the readings can be close enough to pass the sanity check and still be far enough off to keep the software from generating a profile.
I can test this theory by re-measuring the 400 patches. I’m a little busy right now, but I’ll do that when I get a chance.
