Using large files and Vice-Versa with CRC on, I’m getting sustained write throughput of between 90 MB/s and 110 MB/s. That’s pretty much all a 1 Gb/s Ethernet pipe can handle. Read performance is about the same, indicating that the limiting factor is the gigabit Ethernet connection. During these transfers, CPU usage in the 1511+ runs about 20%, indicating that there’s a lot of processing power in reserve. I have’t tried bonding two Ethernet links.
This is far better performance than I get with the Drobo FS, which, using large files and Vice-Versa with CRC on, yields sustained write throughput of under 30 MB/s.
