Here’s what Brooks Jensen has to say in his nomination:
- …for not including Flash, crippling untold numbers of both web pages and PDFs from playing correctly. What gives with implementing a format half way? What if the iPad had Word document capabilities, but no tables or bold fonts? What if it played MP3 files, but didn’t read ID3 tags nor recognized “Genre” as a legitimate sorting field? Wouldn’t we all think they were nuts? So, why make the iPad PDF capable, but without Flash? Just silly. Another of the turf wars that simply frustrates us consumers needlessly.
- I completely agree, and I couldn’t have said it as well. I am no fan of Flash (more on that in a later post), but it’s all over the web, and to not be able to fill out a form, read a document as the author intended, or see an important web page is hugely frustrating.
