I’ve had a request to check the Batis 18 mm f/2.8 for infrared hotspotting. I used a Sony a7RII that has been modified by LifePixel with their “Standard IR” sensor filter.
I apologize for the fact that the images aren’t framed the same. The fog was burning off, I wanted to use it, and I didn’t have time to set up a tripod. Images all developed in Lightroom with +100 contrast boost and +20 highlight boost.
Hotspotting is present at all apertures including wide open.
This is not a good lens for infrared photography.

Interesting to read this. I did recently try my Batis 25 for IR shooting, but it was poor: clear hotspotting and aberrations softening the whole image.
