Another Drobo hard disk failure

The new Drobo FS is indicating yet another hard drive failure, bringing the total to four out of five. I have loaded two more WD 2TB Caviar Green disks from my stock of spares, so I have three working disks at this point.

I’ll let you know how I make out with Drobo customer support tomorrow.

    My problems have just begun.. First failed WD drive showed up tonight I suspect that it is something to do with the reason why WD doesn’t recommend that their WDxxEARS drives (including WD Caviar Green) be used in RAID configurations.

    Oh, bloody H… I should’ve found your blog a week ago.. I just got a DroboFS and I populated it with (tada) WD EARS-drives.. Fortunately I only got 3 drives – going to find other models for the remaining slots..
